Having a blog is a great thing, because you can share anything you like, and if you are good enough you can also earn money from your blog. But how do you get started? Theres so much info out there on the web, and everyone telling you to do different things. So where is the starting point? Well, below I’m going to outline exactly what you need to do to get started and set up your own personal blog. Don’t worry it’ll be super simple, relatively easy, and definitely easy to understand. *cough*

There are many blogging platforms out there, but If you are looking for free blog creation, my suggestion would be to start blogging from BlogSpot.com. There are other alternatives however, they are WordPress.com and Tumblr.com. So why Blogspot.com? Because as a Google-centric blogging platform, BlogSpot have the added advantage of Google’s robust secure platform. You don’t need to worry about managing your server’s resources, securing your blog, or creating backups. Sound good? Awesome, let’s begin the Step-by-step Guide to Creating a Free Blog on BlogSpot.

To create your free blog site, head over to BlogSpot.com and login using your Google account. If you don’t have a Google (gmail) account, then just create one for free. For the first time user, you will see an option to use the identity from your Google Plus profile, or you can use your limited BlogSpot profile. Once you are logged in, click on New Blog button to create a free blog.

Next, you need to add a blog name and select your domain name. You can select the blog template here (you can change it later), and click on Create blog!.

Now that your blog is created, you should change your blog template as the default one is way too simple and boring in my opinion. You can download new template online and install on your blog. Alternatively, you can go to Layout Tab and from there make changes such as the addition of your logo to the header of your BlogSpot blog, etc.

From here you can click on Create a new post and start writing your first blog post!!

Once you have publish a few blog posts and meet certain Requirements, you can go to Earnings Tab and enable Google AdSense for your blog. This way you can also earn money from your free BlogSpot blog.
